Webformhost errors with Office 2016

I encountered an error with the CRM 2011 Client for Outlook when running on Office 2016. The error is about webformhost failing.

Although CRM 2011 is compatible with Office 2016 according to the compatibility matrix, it seems that several people have this issue.

The resolution that worked for me was to add a registry key as follows:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER > Software > Microsoft >MSCRMClient > UseWebFormProcessIsolation'

Use a DWORD32 key type and set the value to 0.

Firewall settings on CRM Server

This document https://msdn.microsoft.com/library/dn683916(v=crm.6).aspx describes the connectivity requirements for CRM in various configurations.

Three ports which must be enabled on the CRM server are:

  • 80 for incoming web access using http
  • 443 for incoming web access using https
  • 808 for the CRM SDK Listener

A symptom of no access on port 808 is that FetchXML based reports do not work.

Goal Metric - Rollup Field form

The rollup field form a goal metric uses the label Source Record Type State and Source Record Type Status.

Source Record Type fields for Rollup Field

These should, I believe show Source Record Type Status and Source Record Type Status Reason to match the display names used elsewhere in the web application.

Notication message

In CRM 2011, the background colour for error messages in the header notification area is (RGB), 255, 255, 174.

For example:

Record names not showing in title bar of window

In CRM versions 2011 and earlier, when you view a record it opens in a new windows and the window title is the name of the record as shown in this example.

However, you might find that the record name does not appear, instead a URL is shown like this ('ve obscured part of the URL).
